Nicola Sturgeon issues Scotland rallying cry as she wishes team well against England

Nicola Sturgeon has wished the Scotland team good luck against England in the Euro 2020 group match at Wembley tonight.

The First Minister said the entire nation will be cheering Steve Clarke 's men as they take on the Auld Enemy for the first time in years.

His team takes on Gareth Southgate's side at Wembley in the oldest fixture in international football.

Scotland go into the game after a disappointing loss to the Czech Republic at Hampden on Monday, while the English secured a narrow 1-0 win against Croatia who dumped them out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage in 2018.

Sturgeon said at the covid briefing today: "The Scotland v England game at Wembley tonight will be a great occasion, at least we hope it will be a great occasion.

"Let me just briefly take this opportunity to wish, Steve Clarke, Andy Robertson and the whole of the team, the very very best of luck for that match tonight.

"All country will be cheering you on."

A win for England would put them through from the group stages, while if Scotland secure a victory it would put them in a good position to qualify.

At the end of the press conference Sturgeon said: "Good luck Scotland. Come on, let's get it done at Wembley this evening."
