Nicola Sturgeon has demanded urgent clarity after a UK Government minister appeared to roll back on Boris Johnson's furlough promise, just hours after he made it.
Robert Jenrick told Sky News this morning it's up to the Chancellor to extend the scheme beyond the scope of the English lockdown - which ends on December 2.
He was speaking to Kay Burley just hours after the Prime Minister said furlough support would be available to the devolved nations, now and in the future, if their lockdown measures require it.
When asked directly if the UK Government would honour pledge, Mr Jenrick responded: "It will be available to everybody in the United Kingdom until the second of December, at that point the chancellor, quite rightly, will have to decide what its future is."
The First Minister revealed she has no further information, beyond Mr Johnson's statement in the House of Commons yesterday.
She posted on Twitter: "We need clarity on this urgently today. I’m sorry to say that the Scottish Government has no more detail now than we did before PM statement yesterday.
"Woolly words don’t pay people’s wages."
