Nicola Sturgeon Covid update: FM may 'get rid of class bubbles and isolation rules'

Nicola Sturgeon is reportedly set to scrap rules which force school bubbles to isolate whenever one person gets Covid.

According to the Scottish Sun the First Minister is to get rid of the rule which means bubbles of pupils and holiday club kids must quarantine for ten days following somebody else testing positive.

The announcement is expected to be made today when Sturgeon reveals whether Scotland is ready to move beyond level zero lockdown restrictions.

“It’s hard to justify a third year of major disruption to schooling given so many people are double-jabbed.”

Instead a targeted approach is expected to be introduced.

According to the Scottish Government website, Scotland “aims to lift all major restrictions on 9 August”.

This could see physical distancing requirements removed both indoors and outdoors if its gateway condition is met.

It would hopefully allow that much-anticipated return of nightclubs and events such as concerts - as well as full capacity stadiums for gigs and sports.

The First Minister's announcement is expected to take place at 2pm on Tuesday.
