Nicola Sturgeon coronavirus update radio fiasco as technician's sweary rant goes out live on air

Think you're having a bad day at work? Spare a thought for the poor Forth One staff member who was trying to live stream a broadcast of the First Minister's coronavirus update when things went seriously wrong.

Scots radio listeners were left in stitches after the stressed-out technician let rip with a string of expletives live on air, unaware of his shocking blunder.

Instead of listeners hearing the latest on the easing of lockdown in Scotland from Nicola Sturgeon, shocked punters were hit with a tirade of swear words as the panicking radio technician tried to transmit the broadcast from Holyrood on a Facebook Live.

Bosses were quick to apologise to listeners and Facebook users for the gaffe as well as to the First Minister herself.

While some of the audio was more difficult to make out, it was easy to get the gist of the swear-word packed rant.

The radio worker said: "Aw for f**k sake.

"Why aren't they sharing it on their twitter stream?

"I don't know how to do anything.

"F**k, f**k, f**k, f**k!

"F**k, f**k, f**k, f**k, f**k.

"Why is this so stressful?

"Why can't it just be f*****g normal?

"Oh my God."

Droves of viewers left in stitches by the Facebook Live blunder took to social media, with some sympathising with the red-faced staff member.

One wrote: "It was class.

"He gave me and a few others the laugh we all needed at this time. Hope he's ok and isn't getting into trouble."

A statement from the station read: "We would like to unreservedly apologise to listeners and to the First Minister of Scotland for inappropriate language broadcast by a member of the digital production team on a Bauer Media Scotland Facebook Live this afternoon.

"This was due to human error and the content was removed immediately.

"Additional processes will be put in place to ensure this does not happen again."
