Nicola Sturgeon coronavirus update: 66 new Glasgow cases 'causing concern'

A further 154 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Scotland.

An additional 66 positive cases have been found in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board overnight.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the Scottish Parliament that the increase of cases in Glasgow is "causing some concern".

Lanarkshire has seen an increase of 22 cases since yesterday.

An additional patient has been admitted to intensive care, meaning there are now six positive coronavirus patients in the country's ICU.

There are 156 positive patients in hospital in Glasgow with 264 across the country.

We told yesterday how an additional five schools in the Greater Glasgow health board area are undergoing contact tracing.

Two of the schools are in Glasgow city - St Monica's Primary School in Pollok and Knightswood Secondary School.

The other three are Gartconnor Primary in Kirkintilloch, Twechar Primary School and Aileymill Primary School in Greenock.

A restaurant in Giffnock has also closed its doors for a deep clean after a staff member tested positive for the virus.

The Courtyard, based in Rouken Glen Park, announced the news yesterday in a Facebook post.

They also confirmed that they will be contacting diners who ate at the restaurant on or prior to August 25, when the staff member last worked a shift, via their track and trace database.
