Nicola Sturgeon is set to announce which coronavirus lockdown tiers each of Scotland's regions will be placed in today.
Glasgow and the rest of the central belt is expected to begin in Level 3 - similar to many of the covid-19 restrictions already in place.
That would result on an extension of the ban on meeting in homes, however, restaurants, pubs and cafes would be allowed to open until 6pm for food and non-alcoholic drinks.
Yet, it has been suggested Lanarkshire could be placed in Level 4 - the toughest restrictions.
Local council, NHS and police leaders have pleaded with the Scottish Government not to give Lanarkshire Level 4 status, warning of the "potentially catastrophic impacts" for local businesses.
Should the area be placed in Level 4, bars and restaurants would remain closed while non-essential shops would also have to shut, along with hairdressers, gyms, libraries and visitor attractions.
The First Minister is due to make the announcement at the Scottish Parliament this afternoon at FMQ's.

First Minister's Questions will start at approximately 12.20pm and the announcement is expected shortly after that.
