A full breakdown will be available later but so far the new cases are in these health boards; 10 in Grampian, 16 in Greater Glasgow, four in Lanarkshire and 31 in Tayside.

254 are currently being treated in hospital with two in intensive care.

The announcement was made at the daily coronavirus briefing held at St Andrew’s House.

Yesterday, Sturgeon told the Scottish Parliament of plans for the next steps out of lockdown.

She stressed the outbreak in Aberdeen is not yet over with plans for the area to remain in strict lockdown for another week.

It was confirmed Scotland will remain in phase three of restrictions but announced gyms in Scotland will reopen ahead of schedule as of August 31, with strict hygiene measures in place.

Contact team sports can resume outdoors as of August 24, and bingo halls will be able to reopen from the same date.

Police will also have new powers to break up house parties exceeding the limit of eight people from three different households.
