Nicola Sturgeon 'bribes Douglas Ross to mention independence' in hilarious Janey Godley voiceover

Scots comedian Janey Godley has won the hearts of many across the country for her hilarious Nicola Sturgeon voiceovers.

This time, the Glaswegian star has now taken the chance to have a little fun with the Scottish leaders’ debate held earlier this week.

Janey posted a clip of Sturgeon giving an interview to journalists while on the campaign trail with the SNP.

But like all of her previous videos, this wasn’t quite your regular chat with the First Minister.

The 60-year-old comedian joked that Sturgeon must have bribed Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross to mention another Indyref throughout the debate.

She said: “Aye we had a good time on the telly wae the leaders debate last night - it was really nice.

“Ah put a ten bob note in Douglas Ross’ pocket and says ‘do me a favour big boy say independence at least 19 times’ - am no allowed tae say as it upsets everybody.

“So aye he did it, so thank you very much Douglas Ross for supporting independence, you’re the man that we need.”

The one minute clip has been viewed more than 37,000 times since it was posted on Twitter last night.

And it has once again been praised by fans of the Scots funnywoman.

One wrote: “Brilliantly funny as always - my English pals are now fans - mind you sometimes they need some accent assistance.”

Another said: “Oh jeez I needed that, big belly laughs. Oh Janey I love you, please never stop.”

Speaking in an interview last year, the First Minister said: “Janey Godley is a brilliant comedian in my view, and her voice overs are very, very funny.

"They are very rude in terms of the language that's used so sometimes I don't feel I can retweet them but they are very, very funny.

"The really clever thing she is doing with them right now is making people laugh but if you listen to them carefully she is getting the key messages across very, very powerfully.

She added: "And so if humour helps us to make people understand what we should be doing right now then all well and good so I think she's doing well on that front.”
