Nicola Sturgeon announces no new coronavirus deaths and 1504 cases in Scotland

No coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Scotland over the last 24 hours.

The Scottish Government also announced that 1504 new cases of COVID-19 were reported overnight.

Sturgeon said the lower number of cases are due to a backlog of figures coming through.

The First Minister tweeted: “It’s now imperative that PM seeks an agreement to extend the Brexit transition period.

She was responding to Boris Johnson’s decision to convene a meeting of the government’s Cobra emergency committee this morning amid a growing sense of chaos over the French ban on UK freight and passengers.

He told BBC Breakfast: “I think the one thing which could actually add fuel to the fire would be ending something that everyone’s known is ending for a very long time, which is the end of the transition period which completes on the 31st December, so absolutely not, no.”
