Nicola Sturgeon announces six new coronavirus deaths in Scotland amid 717 cases

Six people lost their lives to Covid-19 in Scotland in the past 24 hours, the Scottish Government has revealed.

Nicola Sturgeon revealed the latest coronavirus figures which show a further 717 confirmed infections recorded overnight, bringing the total to 82,011 since the pandemic began in March.

The new death s bring Scotland's toll to 3,286.

Of those who are currently battling the virus, 1,227 are receiving hospital treatment, and 98 of them are in intensive care.

The figures emerged as Boris Johnson said he must self-isolate following contact with an MP who tested positive - despite "bursting with antibodies."

The Prime Minister, who was admitted to intensive care with the deadly infection in April, said he was notified by NHS Test and Trace on Sunday that he must self-isolate and will now remain at Number 10 for a period of 14 days.

In a video message on Monday, he tweeted that he was "in good health" and that he has "no symptoms."
