Nicola Sturgeon announces one further coronavirus death and 12 new cases in Scotland

Latest figures have revealed that one further person has died in Scotland from coronavirus - bringing the total hospital death toll to 2,488.

The number of positive cases of Covid-19 has risen to 18,276, a rise of 12 on yesterday’s figures.

A total of 670 people are being treated for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital - 12 of which remain in intensive care.

Nicola Sturgeon delivered the latest figures during the Scottish Government’s daily press conference on coronavirus in Edinburgh today.

The First Minister yesterday announced that the two metre rule on social distancing will be relaxed later this month.

Physical distancing measures for children under 12 outdoors will also be eased from today.

The wearing of face coverings is also set to become mandatory for Scots entering shops from July 10.

Five-mile restrictions on travel were lifted in Scotland from today, apart from in Dumfries and Galloway.

A significant outbreak in the virus mean that the five mile curb will have to stay in place for some towns in the region.
