Nicola Sturgeon announces coronavirus increase with 47 new cases but no deaths recorded since July 16

There have been no new deaths from  coronavirus  in Scotland, but the number of new cases has increased by 47.

A total of 19,126 people have been handed positive COVID-19 test results across the country.

However, there have been no new coronavirus deaths announced by the  Scottish Government  since July 16.

The number of people in hospital stands at 265, with three in ICU.

It comes as the Aberdeen local lockdown continues and NHS Tayside announced that a cluster of coronavirus cases had been identified in north-east Angus.

Among the five people who tested positive, one is linked to the recent outbreak in Aberdeen.

Another 54 contacts, related to this most recent cluster, have been identified and given advice on self-isolating.

This week education secretary John Swinney told how the government will amend thousands of exam marks decided by exam board the SQA.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon apologised on Monday admitting her government “had not got it right” after thousands of school pupils were left with marks lower than those predicted by their teachers.
