Nicola Sturgeon announces a further two new coronavirus deaths in Scotland and five new cases

Latest figures reveal two more people in Scotland have died overnight from coronavirus - taking the total hospital death toll to 2,482.

The number of positive cases of Covid-19   has risen to 18,196, a rise of five on yesterday’s figures).

The number of people being treated for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital stands at 826 with 18 patients in intensive care a reduction of five from yesterday's figures.

It is the second day in a row the number of new cases has been in single figures since lockdown began. The last time this was the case was on March 11 an indication of 'how far we've come' said Nicola Sturgeon.

Yesterday big announcements were made over relaxing restrictions across the country.

Beer gardens and outdoor areas of restaurants will open by July 6- bringing a boost to summer spirits.

The five-mile visiting restriction looks set to be lifted on July 3.

From July 13, outdoor contact sports for children will be allowed and non-essential shops outside shopping centres allowed to open.

Two days later it is planned that hairdressers can also reopen.

Final decisions on moving into Phase 3 will be taken in line with the statutory three-weekly review cycle, due on July 9.

Some measures have also come into force across Scotland with face coverings becoming mandatory on public transport.

Places of worship will be able to reopen for private prayer but hygiene measures will be in place.

Scots enjoyed their first weekend of phase two after further easing of restrictions were announced on Thursday.

Nicola Sturgeon has called on all Scots to learn the latest lockdown rules as the country enters phase two of easing restrictions.

The First Minister accepted they may appear complex to some - but said it was a collective responsibility to understand them.

A new public information called FACTS  - with each letter a reminder of the key measures Scots must comply with - has been unveiled.

F: Face coverings must be worn in crowded places such as shops, and always when using public transport

A: Avoid crowded places wherever possible

C: Clean your hands and hard surfaces in your house regularly

T: Two-metre social distancing is required whenever you are outside meeting others or in shops

S: Self-isolate at home if you develop the symptoms of Covid-19.
