Nicola Sturgeon announces 43 new Covid-19 cases but no deaths recorded for 22 days

The number of positive coronavirus figures in Scotland continues to rise after a further 43 cases were identified overnight.

It is understood 27 of these cases are in the Grampian healh board but it is unknown how many are connected to the outbreak in Aberdeen.

Nicola Sturgeon revealed there have now been no deaths related to the killer virus for the last 22 days but the total number of confirmed cases is now 18,891.

At her briefing in Edinburgh, the First Minister said that 262 people are currently being treated in hospital with 4 in intensive care.

The total number of Covid-10 deaths in Scotland remains at 2,491.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Government is facing serious questions from Scots students whose exams were cancelled by the pandemic.

The SQA downgraded thousands of predicted results sparking fury from pupils who feel they have been disadvantaged by the changes.

Dozens gathered in George Square, Glasgow, on Friday, protesting against the unfair grading system.

They demanded the Scottish Government step in to review the system after thousands were left disadvantaged and disappointed.
