Nicola Sturgeon announces £33m fund to get Scots 'back to work' in the 'economic emergency'

The First Minister has announced that the Scottish Government will invest £33m into "getting Scots back to work."

The news comes after the latest Scottish employment figures released today revealed that 113 thousand people in Scotland are now unemployed.

From the period of January to March, around 13,000 Scots registered as unemployed during the pandemic, meaning that just over four percent of the population is now without a job.

Speaking at a press conference the First Minister said that although the new figures are "low by a historical standpoint' she acknowledges that because the figures only report up until March "they do not reflect the full economic impact."

The First Minister also commented that the figures stress the need for Scotland to "carefully get our economy moving again"
