Nicola Sturgeon announces 19 coronavirus deaths and 466 new cases in Scotland

19 more Scots have tragically died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures were announced ahead of Nicola Sturgeon speaking in Holyrood this afternoon.

The First Minister also confirmed 466 new cases of the virus were recorded overnight.

614 people are being treated in hospital while 50 are currently in ICU.

The latest figures mean that since the start of the pandemic, 7441 people have lost their lives to coronavirus in Scotland.

It comes as Nicola Sturgeon is today expected to announce restrictions on meeting people outdoors in Scotland will soon be eased.

The First Minister will later update MSPs on the country's routemap out lockdown at her weekly covid statement at Holyrood.

The SNP leader has already confirmed that all primary school pupils will return to class as of March 15, with high school students following after the Easter holiday.

Last week, Sturgeon said she hoped to announce "relatively minor, but important changes to the rules around our ability to meet people outdoors, and also on how young people are able to interact with friends outdoors".
