Nicola Sturgeon announcement: route map changes postponed as FM warns of harsher restrictions

No changes have been announced to Scotland's coronavirus restrictions in today's (Thursday 1 October) three-weekly review.

The Scottish Government is required, by law, to review lockdown measures every three weeks and today's announcement means that Scotland will remain in Phase 3 of the route map for moving out of lockdown.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also announced that a total of 668 people tested positive for Covid yesterday - 10.8% of the total number of tests carried out.

Three people, who had previously tested positive for coronavirus, died.

Nicola Sturgeon warned in her daily briefing yesterday that the virus was "getting out of control" after seven more deaths were registered.

The Scottish Government has announced that it is currently considering the possibility of a "circuit breaker" lockdown over the October break in a bid to curb the spread of the virus in Scotland.
