Nicola Sturgeon admits she's 'totally scunnered too' by Glasgow lockdowns

Nicola Sturgeon has admitted she is "totally scunnered too" by the ongoing Glasgow lockdown measures in place.

The First Minister confirmed at a coronavirus briefing earlier today that the city would remain in Level 3 due to the continuously rising case numbers.

However, she said the Scottish Government hoped to move Glasgow to Level 2 restrictions by the end of next week with a final decision to be made by Wednesday.

Ms Sturgeon acknowledged that "as a Glaswegian" she was also fed up of the tighter restrictions in the city but urged people to stick by the rules "try to get us through as safely as possible".

In a Tweet, she said: "FWIW as a Glaswegian, I’m totally scunnered too, but I owe it to everyone to try to get us through as safely as possible. And we do have positive signs of the public health work & vaccination starting to make a difference. So be careful, do tests & get vaccinated when you can."

Today's figures confirmed that 234 of the 641 positive cases recorded in Scotland overnight were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Two deaths were recorded yesterday, bringing the country's death toll to 7,668.

90 people are currently in hospital with Covid-19 - seven more than yesterday, while six people are in intensive care - an increase of two.
