Nicola Sturgeon accused of breaking ministerial code 38 times by Scots Tories over Salmond affair

Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of breaking the ministerial code more than 30 times over the Alex Salmond affair, according to the Scottish Conservatives.

The First Minister is set to appear at the harassment committee tomorrow after her predecessor, Alex Salmond, gave evidence in a more than six-hour session on Friday.

Ahead of being quizzed by MSPs the Tories have released a 27-page dossier which they say details 14 resignation matters for Sturgeon and her inner circle.

The Sturgeon-Salmond Scandal document presents up to 38 potential breaches of the code.

The document says Sturgeon appears to have misled the Scottish Parliament on a number of occasions, something the First Minister has denied.

The accusations by the Tories range from misleading parliament on a number of occasions, delaying the judicial review and to meeting Salmond on government business without officials or minutes/records being taken.

Sturgeon has denied all the accusations against her and says she will respond in full at the committee tomorrow.

Previously Sturgeon has rubbished the claims: “What we have not seen is a shred of evidence to back these wild claims up.

“It is time for insinuation and assertion to be replaced with actual evidence.

“And if, as I fully expect, there is no evidence, because there was no conspiracy, then people will draw their own conclusions.”

Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: "This dossier shows all the evidence of SNP cover ups, dreadful mistakes and terrible lapses of judgement.

"Sleaze and secrecy is running rampant throughout the ruling party of government.

"Nicola Sturgeon stands accused of breaking the Ministerial Code up to 38 times. The First Minister and her inner circle are facing 14 separate resignation matters.

"The weight of evidence is overwhelming – and this is only what we know about. So much more continues to be hidden by the SNP.

"The First Minister has abused the power of her office and government to cover up what really happened, what she knew and when she knew it."
