Nicola McLean vows never to force long-haired son Stiker to conform to stereotype

Nicola McLean said she will never make her long-haired son Striker conform to gender stereotypes.

The glamour model revealed her son is often mistaken for a girl because of his waist-length golden locks.

Yet the Celebrity Big Brother star insisted she doesn't care and neither does her son.

In an impassioned column, Nicola defended her son's choice to have long hair because she said it doesn't make him "feminine".

"“Oh, she’s lovely,” people comment. But I genuinely don’t care — and neither does Striker," she wrote for The Sun's Fabulous magazine.

"Having long hair doesn’t make Striker any less of a boy. There’s nothing feminine about him, not that it would matter if there was."

The headmistress at Striker's school demanded the teacher had words with the mum about cutting her son's hair.

Nicola made a convincing case when she printed off pictures of footballers with long hair to show the class.

In the end, Striker kept his long hair.

On reflection, the I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star said many people think she's the reason her son has long hair.

However, she insisted this isn't the case and her husband Tom loves their son's hair too.

She added: "A lot of people seem to think Striker’s hair is long because of me. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. My husband Tom loves Striker’s hair, too."

Nicola has two sons Striker and Rocky who she raises with her husband Tom.

The family have been living at a luxurious home in Buckinghamshire.

In August 2018, Nicola shed some light on her unusual parenting style during a heated debate on This Morning.

The mum revealed no one will discipline her children except herself because she's the boss.

She told This Morning: "My sons need to know that I’m boss and if someone else interferes while I’m there, they’re basically telling my children, 'we don’t think your mum is capable of parenting you, of looking after you so we're getting involved.'"

Nicola added: "Since I got pregnant… my main priority is to be a good mum.

"As long as my children are well behaved - which they are at all times - then nobody, including their dad, has to step in."

Previously, Nicola revealed she could not have any more children with her husband.

In 2017, she was advised to have a full hysterectomy, including the removal of her ovaries, after she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Nicola said on Loose Women at the time: "I really did want more babies.

"But it is what it is. I've got my two boys and I'm lucky to have them."
