Nicola Coughlan ‘heartbroken’ after tragic death of Bridgerton colleague to covid

Nicola Coughlan has paid an emotional tribute to a member of the Bridgerton crew following his death after a battle with Covid.

The Irish actress said she was ‘heartbroken’ as she took to Instagram to mourn the loss of Marc Pilcher, who was the hair and makeup designer for season one of the Netflix period drama.

The Derry Girls star wrote: “So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One.

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented. Not even a month ago he won his first Emmy award.

"It’s a tragedy that he’s been taken so young when he had so much yet to do."

Nicola went on to urge her followers to protect themselves against Covid after his tragic passing.

The star, who boasts 1.2 million followers on Instagram, said: “Please also use this as a reminder that Covid is still a very real and present danger, please get vaccinated and mask up to protect yourself and others.

“My heart goes out to his friends and family, especially to his wonderful team.

“He loved and cared for you all so much and my heart goes out to you all. Rest in Peace Marc.”

The star shared a black and white image of the Emmy winning stylist in the social media tribute, alongside a collage of his work throughout the record breaking Netflix series.

Netflix also paid tribute to the late designer.

A spokesperson for the streaming site told Irish Daily Mirror: “We are saddened by the loss of Marc Pilcher.

"A phenomenal talent, his work on Bridgerton season one was unrivaled, and he was a much loved member of the crew.

"Our hearts go out to his family and friends at this time.”

Mr Pilcher, 53, had worked in TV and film since 2003 and had worked on 2018 film 'Mary, Queen of Scots' with Saoirse Ronan.
