Nicola Coughlan celebrates Bridgerton's 12 Emmy Nominations

Nicola Coughlan has celebrated Bridgerton's 12 Emmy nominations with a glass of bubbly.

The Derry Girls star plays Penelope Featherington in the hugely successful show which was inspired by the bestselling novels by Julia Quinn and is during the Regency era in England.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday night, Nicola said: "Don’t mind me just celebrating Bridgerton’s 12 (TWELVE!) Emmy nominations!!

"What an overwhelming honour @televisionacad, thank you so much, and a huge thank you to the incredible fans of the show who give us more support than we could ever possibly wish for.

"Also @netflix can I please have the day off work to go? I love a party."

The show is up for Outstanding Drama Series, with Regé-Jean Page nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for playing Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.

The series follows eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family attempt to find love.

It began streaming on Netflix on January 1 and has since been named the fifth most-watched Netflix original series of all time.

Back in April, Nicola left fans ecstatic as she revealed that the popular Netflix series will return for series three and four.
