In exciting news for fans of the beloved animated film franchise, a live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is currently in the works. The remake aims to bring a fresh interpretation of the story to the big screen while staying true to its magical essence. Nico Parker, who will take on the role of Astrid Hofferson, recently shared some insights about the upcoming remake.

Speaking with Collider, Parker described the remake as 'its own thing' and emphasized that each cast member will bring their own unique version of the characters to life. She stressed the importance of not attempting to replicate the animated films but instead creating a new and captivating experience for audiences. Parker expressed her confidence in the film's quality and stated that she's enjoying the process of making it, regardless of the outcome.

DreamWorks, the production studio behind How to Train Your Dragon, is following in Disney's footsteps by venturing into live-action adaptations of their animated classics. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the casting of Mason Thames and Nico Parker as the young protagonists, Hiccup and Astrid, respectively. Dean DeBlois, who directed the original animated films, will helm the live-action remake.

Mason Thames is known for his roles in various projects, including the horror film The Black Phone and the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind. He has also joined the cast of the reboot of Walker Texas Ranger. On the other hand, Nico Parker gained recognition for her portrayal of Sarah in the highly acclaimed adaptation of The Last of Us for HBO. She also appeared in Disney's live-action version of Dumbo, among other smaller roles.

In addition to these newcomers, Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Stoick the Vast, Hiccup's father and the chieftain of the Viking community on Berk, marking an exciting return for fans of the original films.

The first film in the franchise, released in 2010, introduced us to Hiccup, a Viking teenager who befriends a dragon named Toothless, defying the long-standing animosity between humans and dragons. The subsequent films, How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019), continued the epic journey of Hiccup and his companions as they discovered hidden worlds and fought for peace between Vikings and dragons.

Cressida Cowell's book series, upon which the films are based, provides a rich source of material for the live-action remake. With a total of 12 books, there is plenty of room for the franchise to expand and explore new storylines as it transitions to live-action.

Fans of How to Train Your Dragon can mark their calendars for June 13, 2025, when the live-action remake is set to hit theaters. As anticipation builds, audiences can look forward to a fresh take on the beloved franchise while keeping the same magic that made the animated films so memorable.
