Niclas Eliasson's agent outlines Bristol City's transfer stance amid Celtic and Lazio links

Niclas Eliasson's agent has said that a move for his player in January could be 'difficult' for the likes of Celtic and Lazio, but admits he could leave Ashton Gate in the summer.

The winger has caught the attention of clubs across Europe after his performances in the Championship this season, where he has scored three goals and provided 10 assists (the joint best in the league).

Scottish champions Celtic are thought to have scouted the player and hold a genuine interest in a permanent move, with Lazio and Spanish side Villarreal also keeping tabs on Eliasson.

However, Eliasson's agent Hasan Cetinkaya has told the Daily Record that a move will most likely not happen in January.

Cetinkaya said: “No, it’s going to be difficult. Bristol want to keep him for their aims to move up. Then he has an option in his contract the club will use.

“Interest comes from big clubs and major leagues and clubs are looking to buy him now but Bristol has said no. That’s all I can say right now. But in the summer window, something big could happen to Niclas.”

With City just two points off the play off spots in the Championship, Eliasson will be seen as a key figure in the push to finish in the play offs and the Robins will want to keep hold of him until at least the summer.

The Robins are due to exercise an extension clause in Eliasson's contract which means the player will have 18 months left on his contract, so it is likely that Bristol City will be able command a tidy fee if they decide to cash in in the summer transfer window.

Eliasson recently spoke about how happy he is to be at Ashton Gate amid ongoing contract talks with the club.

Speakig after the Barnsley week, he said: "All I can say is that I’m really happy at Bristol City. I’ve said to my agent and to the club that it’s easier if they do the talking between them and I can keep my focus on the pitch.

"With so many games coming up, I don’t want to be thinking about contracts, so I'll leave it to them, and they’ll find the best solution for everyone. I’m just thinking about doing everything on the pitch."

Premier League side Burnley are also thought to be interested in a move for the winger, according to the Times.
