Nicky McDonald takes requests for lockdown livestream gig to 30,000 fans from living room

Nicky McDonald has been performing online concerts for his fans during the coronavirus lockdown.

The X Factor runner-up, of Motherwell, has been reaching out to his legion of Facebook followers, asking them to send him song requests.

And the newly-married performer then sings live to his adoring fans from his living room.

And his lockdown livestream concerts have been watched by over 30,000 people a night.

Nicky explained: “All of my gigs have been cancelled, naturally, because we are all in lockdown, so I just thought why not do a livestream and ask people to send me their requests, simply to cheer people up.

“You never know how these live videos are going to go but I’ve had a good few people logging on to watch, and they’re all keen to share their requests whilst we’re all stuck indoors.”

Nicky’s home gigs have been going down a storm with fans commenting on his talent.

Susan Doty posted: “Thank You Nicky Samuel McDonald! You made my afternoon brighter! I love your voice and songs! You are surely gifted!”

Cathy Tuson added: “It was awesome! Thank you!”

And Yvonne Beveridge simply said: “Brilliant.”

Song requests Nicky has performed included Flower of Scotland, Lewis Capaldi’s Hold me While You Wait, Westlife’s Flying Without Wings and Prince’s Purple Rain.

Nicky rose to fame on the tenth series of The X Factor in 2013 coming second to close friend Sam Bailey. After the show, he signed with RCA Records and released his debut album In the Arms of an Angel in March 2014, peaking at number six on the UK album chart.
