Nicky Hunt out to do old side Notts County a favour against Yeovil Town

Ex-Notts County defender Nicky Hunt told his former teammates 'keep your chins up' as he passed them in the Gresty Road tunnel on Saturday.

Now with Crewe Alexandra, and on the right side of Saturday's dominant three-goal defeat in Cheshire, the right-back has been keeping a keen eye on his old club this season as they look to pull of the greatest of escapes.

And on Good Friday, in Crewe's clash will relegation threatened Yeovil Town, the 35-year-old is out to do Notts a favour and deal the Glovers a heft blow in their own fight for survival.

Neal Ardley says whatever Notts County's fate he will look in the mirror and say 'I tried everything'

"It’s not going well on the pitch (at Meadow Lane)," Hunt told MK Citzen.

"I still know a lot of the players and staff there and still speak to them quite regularly.

"The number of fans they brought (on Saturday) was a credit to the club.

"I said to them after the game: ‘Keep your chins up, all you can do is move onto the next game and try to get as many points on the board as possible’.

"The only saving grace is that the other teams down there are in the same run of form, so their next few games are vital for their league status.

"Yeovil Town are next for us and they are fighting for their lives, so we have to be professional whoever steps over the white line, and go and win the game."
