Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has revealed the details behind his prickly relationship with Emmanuel Adebayor.
The pair didn't exactly see eye-to-eye and that came to the fore after Arsenal were beaten 5-1 by North London rivals Tottenham in the League Cup in 2008.
Bendtner and Adebayor squared up on the pitch and were separated by teammates having had an argument during the humbling at the hands of Tottenham.
Bendtner has now spoken about that relationship he had with Adebayor and why it was such a challenge for the pair to get on.
"We just didn't like each other," he told talkSPORT. "We said things to each other in the changing room.
"He was 25 and I was 23, from the first moment we saw each other, there was just a bad vibe and it never changed.
"Small bust-ups in the changing room and that big one at Tottenham when it blew out of proportion.
"We got hammered 5-1 and we were so bad, obviously the disappointment of letting the fans down and the teams down got in between us.
"So we had that thing on the pitch and then we had a little in the dressing room. And then the next day we were in Wenger's office getting fined.
"So that explains why we had to learn how to deal with each other on a personal level.
"It was actually quite a good way of learning how to work with someone that you really dislike."
Bendtner is now back in his homeland of Denmark playing for Tårnby FF's M+32, while Adebayor is in Paraguay, playing for Olimpia.
The former left the Gunners in 2014 for Wolfsburg, while Adebayor left in 2009, later joining Tottenham after a spell with Manchester City.
