Nicki Minaj 'gets marriage licence with boyfriend Kenneth Petty' amid engagement rumours

Nicki Minaj has reportedly obtained a marriage licence with boyfriend Kenneth Petty.

US gossip website TMZ reports that the couple visited the Beverly Hills Courthouse in Los Angeles on Monday to get the necessary paperwork.

An eyewitness told the publication that the pair were “trying to keep a low profile inside the courthouse” as they waited at a window labelled “marriage licences and ceremony appts. ONLY.”

A US marriage licence would typically last for up to 90 days.

Standard Online has contacted Minaj’s representatives for further comment.

The reports come after the rapper sparked more engagement rumours in the lyrics for her verse in Chance The Rapper’s new track Zanies and Fools, which dropped on Friday.

“I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens / If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means,” she raps on the song.

The verse continues with apparent references to a forthcoming marriage and even pregnancy.

“He the Clyde to my Bonnie / ‘Bout to walk down the aisle and be a mommy,” she adds. “Oh, I remember when I cried like, ‘Why me?’ / Now I wouldn’t exchange my life for Armani.”

The TMZ report comes after Minaj, 36, confirmed that she and Petty, 41, had previously obtained another marriage licence.

“We did get our marriage licence,” she told Queen Radio in June, before opening up on how her relationship has put her in a “happy place.”

“I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness,” she said. “It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.

“Certain travelling things I don’t wanna do it. I’m just enjoying my downtime.”
