Nicki Minaj accused of disrespecting Rosa Parks by furious listeners

Furious fans have accused Nicki Minaj of putting disrespectful lyrics in her new song.

The US rapper’s newest tune has a reference to the late activist Rosa Parks, and listeners are convinced the song casts her in a negative light.

The 37-year-old teased a snippet of her new song Yikes on social media on February 4.

The leaked lyrics caused uproar because they feature the line: "All you b*****s Rosa Parks, uh oh, get your a** up."

Rosa Parks, who would have turned 107 years old this week, was a prominent civil rights leader in the United States.

She is best known for refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus for a white passenger in 1955.

Her ferocious bravery triggered a nationwide movement to end racial segregation.

Several of the Anaconda rapper’s fans have taken to social media to vent at the misappropriated lyrics.

“So I'm mad that this boiled egg bodied built trick a**, disrespected rosa parks @NICKIMINAJ” one Twitter account wrote.

“All b******s Rosa Parks get ya a** up” @NICKIMINAJ you know better than that switch that shit up,” said another.

Another social media account vented: “Rosa Parks and Nicki Minaj should not be mentioned in the same sentence, no matter the context.”

As a result of the debacle, earlier today the singer took to social media and admitted: “Had no clue anyway was mad. Don’t care. #Yikes.”

It’s not the first time that Nicki has been slammed for alluding to prominent historical figures of colour.

In 2018, the musician compared herself to the famed American abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

At the time, fans were not pleased that she had used the escaped slave as a reference to herself. As a result, social media went into meltdown and the famous American figure ended up tending on Twitter.
