Nicke Kabamba 'ran Celtic ragged' in Kilmarnock draw says Alex Dyer as boss gushes over no-nonsense striker

Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer praised "excellent" Nicke Kabamba after his no-nonsense performance helped the Ayrshire side draw 1-1 with Celtic.

Kabamba won a penalty with his team trailing 1-0 to a Ryan Christie opener.

He was hauled down by Christopher Jullien after tying the defender in knots at the byline and Chris Burke levelled from the spot.

That's how the game finished but Kabamba didn't stop there as his tireless performance saw him win countless loose balls and lost causes to give his spirited defence a breather.

And after the game, Dyer told Sky Sports: "He was excellent from start to finish.

"The two boys - who are good players - at the back, he ran them ragged at times.

"Obviously no-one likes to be playing when balls are being turned but he's big, he's strong, he's got a great touch.

"And he's a handful for any defender in this league."

Kilmarnock kept their heads despite going a goal down and in the end deserved their point for a masterful defensive display once the scores were level again.

Dyer reckoned all they had to do was ride out a short spell after Christie's opener and he insisted his side looked "comfortable" against the champions.

"We lost it after they scored for about five or 10 minutes," he added

"But after that it was back in the game.

"We got the penalty and saw the game out, quite comfortably I thought in the end.

"The boys have been there before, they know what it's about, they showed good discipline.

"I know the players that I've got in there, the way they work because we got over that initial five or 10 minutes after the goal, after that we were fine."
