Nick Ward drops double-double in Summer League for the Hawks

Nick Ward has always been a double-double machine, that’s not news to Michigan State fans, but for those of us who like to follow Michigan State alumni at the pro level, it’s reassuring to see that his game translates to an NBA level game. Last night, Nick Ward showed out in the Atlanta Hawks Summer League win over the San Antonio Spurs, notching a double-double on the night and showing off some nice moves.

The performance was impressive enough that the national media took notice, and I’ve seen multiple sites like CBS writing about Ward’s play last night.

Ward put up 16 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal in 28 minutes of Summer League action. This was a much-needed game for Ward who hasn’t been able to find much of a rhythm thus far. He struggled for minutes for a few games due to the presence of Bruno Fernando and Omari Spellman, but Spellman was recently traded to the Golden State Warriors which opened up some minutes for Ward.
