Nick Ward Atlanta Hawks Summer League Preview

Like Kenny Goins, it’s hard to tell if Nick Ward will have a home in the NBA someday. I think Matt McQuaid will make it there because of his expert shooting and serviceable defense, but Goins and Ward are still a toss-up. Well, Nick Ward is at least going to get a shot to show how his game can translate to the professional level with the Atlanta Hawks at Summer League.

The Hawks two first-round picks, De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish, will be the headline acts for the Hawks, along with Maryland big man Bruno Fernando.

I am guessing that Nick Ward will be competing with Phil Cofer of Florida State and Reid Travis of Kentucky for most of the backup big man minutes. I am not that familiar with those two players and their skill level but I think Nick Ward will be in a decent situation to showcase what he can do. I’m still unsure about Ward’s NBA prospects but if he can show some of his offensive skillsets and, hopefully, some improved, consistent defense I think the G League will be calling for Ward’s services.

You can check out Ward and the Hawks July 6th against Milwaukee at 5pm ET on NBA TV.
