Nick Saban’s Wife Shared Postgame Plan to Take Coach’s Mind Off Alabama’s Loss to Michigan

After a gutting loss in the Rose Bowl on Monday evening, Alabama coach Nick Saban’s wife, Terry Saban, said the legendary coach wasn’t going to watch the Sugar Bowl later that night. Instead, she said her husband needed to get his mind off football after the Crimson Tide’s 27–20 overtime loss to Michigan.

Indeed, Terry Saban revealed the couple’s postgame plans to Josh Peter of USA Today, and those plans didn’t include watching Washington play Texas in the second College Football Playoff semifinal.

Terry recounted her conversation with Nick immediately after Monday’s loss to Peter, and it went like this:

Terry: “Do you want to watch the other football game?”

Nick: “Not really.”

Terry: “O.K., let’s watch Netflix.”

Apparently, the Sabans have been watching a foreign film that Terry believes is “Turkish or something,” and she added that reading the subtitles are helpful for the seven-time national champion coach.

“It completely gets your mind off of [the defeat],” she added.

This isn’t new territory for the Sabans. After all, seven championships mean twice as many heartbreaks.

“Fifty-two years of doing it, we’ve experienced it before, right? And you try to find the silver lining to teach other players for the next time,” she continued.
