Second baseman Nick Madrigal and first baseman Andrew Vaughn head a list of 12 White Sox prospects who received invitations to spring training Tuesday.
The Sox also agreed to terms on minor league contracts for 15 free agents, including infielders Cheslor Cuthbert, Andrew Romine and Matt Skole; outfielders Jaycob Brugman and Nicky Delmonico; left-handers Adalberto Mejia, Ross Detwiler, Caleb Frare, Jacob Lindgren and Matt Tomshaw and right-handers Bryan Mitchell, Drew Anderson, Ryan Burr, Brady Lail and Alex McRae. All 15 received non-roster invites to spring training.
Joining Madrigal and Vaughn among prospects not on the 40-man roster who will begin spring training in major league camp: outfielders Daniel Palka and Luis Gonzalez; right-handers Codi Heuer, Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Stiever and Tayron Guerrero; left-handers Kodi Medeiros and Hunter Schryver; catcher Carlos Pérez; first baseman Gavin Sheets.
Vaughn was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 draft and is the organization’s No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Madrigal was selected No. 4 in 2018 and is ranked fourth. If he doesn’t make the Opening Day roster he is expected to make his major league debut during the season. Stiever is the Sox’ No. 6 prospect, Gonzalez is 11th, Sheets 12th, Johnson 18th and Heuer 23rd.

- OF Nicky Delmonico: Split the 2019 season between the White Sox and Class AAA Charlotte before undergoing season-ending right shoulder surgery in May;
- LHP Ross Detwiler: Pitched for both the White Sox and Class AAA Charlotte in 2019 after signing as a free agent on May 9, 2019;
- LHP Caleb Frare: Spent most of last season with Class AAA Charlotte but also made five appearances with the White Sox;
- OF Luis González: Enters the season rated by MLB.com as the No. 11 prospect in the White Sox system;
- RHP Tayron Guerrero: Was designated for assignment on January 2 after being claimed off waivers from Miami on December 6, 2019;
