Nick Kyrgios calls umpire 'a f***ing disgrace' and smashes racquet on court

Controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios branded an umpire 'a f***ing disgrace' and smashed his racquet in a spectacular outburst at the Miami Open.

Kyrgios lost his cool during a defeat in the doubles as he and American Taylor Fritz were knocked out by Joao Sousa and Guido Pella 6-7 7-6 8-10.

Frustrated by contentious calls during the match, the Australian unleashed an astonishing volley at the umpire which was filmed by spectators.

In the video, Kyrgios can be heard shouting at the umpire: "What is wrong with you? You're a disgrace. You're a f***ing disgrace."

He is then seen angrily hurling his racquet, which is instantly mangled as it smashes against the court.

Kyrgios then turned to the crowd and defended his outburst.

He is heard saying: "Do you think that's alright, yes or no?

"Just give me the answer. He's a disgrace.

"I come out and give 100 per cent and I have to deal with idiots like him. Does he get fined for his mistakes? It's rubbish, man."

In February, Rafael Nadal slammed Kyrgios for a lack of “respect” after losing to the Aussie bad boy at the Acapulco International in Mexico.

The world No.72 made an underarm serve and was booed by the crowd after he saved three match points to win 3-6 7-6 7-6.

World No.2 Nadal said: “He is a player who has enormous talent. He could win Grand Slams and fight the top positions of the ranking, but there is a reason why he is where he is. He lacks respect for the public, the rival and towards himself.”

After dropping the first set against Nadal in their clash at the Acapulco International in Mexico, Kyrgios called for the trainer and said that he felt sick but would play on as he feared the media would “blow it up”.

He returned to the court for the second set and immediately looked a different player.

At one stage a frustrated Nadal called for the crowd to quieten down, a request that received backing from Kyrgios, who screamed “shut up” together with an expletive - an outburst that brought him a warning from the umpire.

Kyrgios will face Serbian Dusan Lajovic in the third round of the men's singles at the Miami Open on Monday as he targets a sixth career title.
