Nick Kyrgios has hit out at Alexander Zverev for his “selfish” behaviour after video footage emerged of him partying while supposedly self-isolating.
Zverev had played in Novak Djokovic’s much-criticised Adria Tour where a raft of players and support staff tested positive for Covid-19.
While the German had tested negative, he announced a week ago he would be self-isolating but on Sunday a clip emerged of him singing and dancing in a packed restaurant near Nice in the South of France with friends.
And Kyrgios, who previously said the decision to go ahead with the event was "bone-headed", said: “I see more controversial things happening around the world but one thing that stuck out for me was seeing Sasha Zverev, again man, again.
“How selfish can you be? If you have the audacity to put out a tweet that you made your management f***ing write on your behalf saying you’re going to self-isolate for 14 days, and apologising to the general public for putting their health at risk – at least have the f***ing audacity to stay inside for 14 days.
“My God. This tennis world’s pissing me off, seriously. How selfish can you all get?”
Zverev had previously been filmed partying with Djokovic and other Adria Tour players. The Serbian later tested positive for the coronavirus along with Borna Coric and Grigor Dimitrov, who all played at the Tour, which was cut short after those positive tests.
At the time, Zverev had said: “I deeply apologise to anyone I have potentially put at risk by playing this tour. I will proceed to follow the self-isolating guidelines advised by our doctors.”
