Nick Knowles 'to be in TV bidding war' if axed by BBC over Shreddies advert

Nick Knowles could find himself at the centre of a bidding war if he is axed by the BBC over his breakfast advert for Shreddies, according to reports.

The 58-year-old DIY SOS star is said to have angered BBC bosses as he recently fronted a campaign for the cereal brand, inadvertently breaching BBC rules.

Host Nick plays a builder in the cereal advert and is said to be in "absolute torment" over the possibility of losing his presenting job over it.

Behind-the-scenes, Nick's representatives and the BBC are reportedly "working together to seek a solution".

But now a source says he is being eyed-up by Channel 5 if he has to give up his beloved TV show, which has been on screens for 21 years.

A TV insider told The Sun : "Nick could have a string of lucrative deals come his way. He appeals to broadcasters and viewers.

"It's no surprise different producers and channels are circling."

A spokesperson for Channel 5 told the publication there is no "exclusive talent" but said: "Nick has already been working on two major series for us.

"We are looking forward to broadcasting these and we are sure audiences will love them.

"We're really excited to have Nick on board."

The TV star has previously worked with the channel on its Home Improvements show and he's expected to front Your Life on Your Lawn this summer.

The Shreddies advert first appeared in February, in which the presenter was referred to as "Nick get it done Knowles".

The Mirror has contacted Nick's representative for comment.
