Nick Knowles says he piled on almost four stone during lockdown - but plans to lose it

Telly star Nick Knowles says he is having a P-I-E SOS, and plans to lose the weight he’s piled on in lockdown.

The 59-year-old housewives’ favourite, who presents DIY SOS, told the Mirror: “I’ve made a living by looking like a bag of spanners on TV. I’m 18 stone, I’m massive.

“I’m always on building sites. During lockdown I put on almost four stone. I’ve taken two stone off now and I’m getting fit again.”

Nick, who has a legion of female admirers, previously told how he started to gain weight during the first lockdown because he stopped fitness training focusing instead on writing, baking banana bread and eating “all the pies”.

In November last year he was trolled when he appeared on DIY SOS Children In Need.

But the star isn’t phased by critics and is now getting fit again by working outdoors.

Nick has also found love with a new girlfriend but says he is still close to Jessica Moor, the mother of his child, after they split in 2016. He said: “I’m in a good place.”

However he has quit the showbiz “circuit” having become disgruntled with unfriendly reality stars, saying: “I would go to those events and there would be schoolkids asking for autographs. A load of people from reality programmes would go past without signing autographs and it would upset me.”

Nick also spoke of princes William and Harry, having worked with them on TV shows.

He said: “It’s a great sadness that they are not seeing eye to eye. I hope, because they are really good lads with really good hearts, they find a way to find their way through it.”
