Nick Knowles once tried to buy the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! castle for just £5, it's claimed.
The DIY SOS presenter, 58 reportedly wanted to transform the crumbling 200-year-old Welsh landmark Gwrych Castle, where the ITV show is being filmed instead of the Australian jungle this year due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
He believed the project could bring jobs the area of Abergele in Conwy and help boost the local economy, it's reported.
But it's said that he pulled out of purchasing the castle when he discovered it would cost £1.5million to rebuild and renovate it.
A source told The Sun : "Nick wanted to use the ethos of the BBC1 show to help bring jobs to the area and put some money into the local economy.
"But the scale of the repairs needed, and the complications of Gwrych Castle being a Grade 1 listed building, simply made it impossible.
"The price he offered to pay may seem ridiculously small, but it was a token offer reflecting the cash he was considering putting into rescuing a landmark in that corner of Wales.
"In the end, the figures just didn't add up."

The TV star appeared in the 2018 series of I'm A Celebrity and came in sixth place.
The upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity is expected to start around November 15.
Over the weekend, the line-up appeared to have been leaked ahead of schedule when a number of celebrities were spotted making their way to Wales.
The likes of Vernon Kay, Bevelery Callard and Russell Watson were photographed at a north London photoshoot, sparking rumours they will be joining Ant and Dec for the reality series.
