Nick Knowles hits out at Jimmy Carr's quiz show for 'taking money off charities'

Nick Knowles has hit out at Jimmy Carr's new quiz show for 'taking money off charities'.

The DIY SOS star was less than impressed with the comedian's new television show, which sees people go head to head to try and win a cash sum of £25,000. As it was a celebrity special, Lorraine Kelly, Alex Horne, Aisling Bea and Asim Chaudhry were all competing to win their chosen charity the hefty sum.

Nick took to Twitter to slam the format, which saw three celebs - and three charities - walk away with no money, despite having earned some cash in the previous rounds.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "So Jimmy Carr’s 'I literally just told you' plays off charities against each other to go home with nothing so 3 important charities took part tonight but received no cash at all.

"Only one got money I’m not sure I like playing charities off against each other for entertainment."

When someone else pointed out that The Weakest Link did a similar thing, Nick fumed: "Then I’m unhappy with that too - I recently did Catchphrase because the charity gets what you win."

It comes after Nick defended Stacey Solomon over her show Sort Your Life Out, after some viewers claimed it was remarkably similar to Nick's Channel 5 programme, Big House Clear Out.

One angry viewer wrote on social media: "@StaceySolomon appears to be duplicating @MrNickKnowles and throwing rubbish out. Who copied who?? #sortyourlifeout."

Nick insisted there is "plenty of room" for both shows - even if they were similar.

He wrote: "There is plenty of room for more than one show about decluttering - neither of these formats is the first in this space - there have been many shows on other channels for years about decluttering.

"Anything that helps people is a good thing & @StaceySolomon is lovely & kind."

Nick's fans were thrilled with his kind comments, with one writing: "And you are a lovely and kind bloke too Mr Knowles and you are bang on the money with your comments. You have a good heart and so does Stacey."
