Nick Knowles faces driving ban after speeding and using phone behind wheel

Nick Knowles has pleaded guilty to driving while using a mobile phone and speeding.

The 56-year-old DIY SOS host and I'm A Celebrity star has said that he has 'owned up to his mistake' and will take whatever punishment he is given when he appears in court next Wednesday.

Speaking to The Sun, Nick said that he turned his back on getting a top lawyer to contest the charge and "held my hands up, said I’m guilty".

Nick believes that he will be slapped with a driving ban but has admitted: "I will absolutely accept that because what I did was wrong."

This will cause some inconvenience as the TV presenter, who added: "I drive thousands of miles a year up and down the country for my work."

Nick continued to say that him finding it "all too easy to drive a bit too fast or read or send a text" should be a lesson to everyone.

He now packs his phone away for journeys, saying "texts can wait till I get wherever I’m going".

Nick has called on other road users to do the same, after admitting seeing many other drivers doing the exact same activity behind wheel.

He has urged others to follow his example in "putting my phone in the boot of my car before I set off driving".

He started using "Bluetooth can answer calls, but it’s out of reach," and reminded fellow road users that "we all need to start realising that no phone call or text is ever that important."
