Nick Jonas is in, Gwen Stefani is out. This will be 'The Voice' in 2020

Nick Jonas has landed a new gig as a coach in the forthcoming season of "The Voice," with No Doubt's lead singer Gwen Stefani stepping down.

Jonas, one-third of the Jonas Brothers, announced Monday that he'd be joining the singing competition for its spring 2020 season.

He was on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" promoting his group's platinum-certified album "Happiness Begins" and single "Only Human." The youngest Jonas will star alongside returning celebrity music coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton, plus host Carson Daly.

"The cat's out of the bag," the singer told the applauding audience. "I'm so excited about this ... . These are the first people I've told. So thank you for being a part of this special moment for me."

Folks at NBC are equally thrilled to have Jonas join the series.

"As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick's success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional," Meredith Ahr, president of NBC Entertainment's alternative and reality group, said in a statement. "We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude and passion ... and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach."

Jonas also shared some words on Twitter, telling fans how stoked he was to be working "with that crew of amazing coaches."

"While I'm excited to work with you guys, I'm coming for you," he said. "I'm hoping for a Season 1 win for team Nick and the chance to get to work with some amazing talent."

Stefani, who just returned to Season 17 of "The Voice," will be stepping down come spring to focus on the last dates of her "Just a Girl" Las Vegas residency in February and May 2020.

"I didn't expect to be doing [the Vegas show] and 'The Voice' at the same time," she told "Entertainment Tonight" last month. "I just feel like I'm alive in a way I've never been before, because I have to be! Because doing both is a lot."
