Nick Jonas breaks silence on 'mystery injury' after breaking his rib in bicycle accident

Nick Jonas has broken his silence after being rushed to hospital with a "mystery injury" while filming a secret new project.

The pop star and judge, 28, was said to have been hurt on Saturday night during an undisclosed incident before being taken in an ambulance for emergency treatment.

And now he has revealed that he broke his rib after falling off a bike.

Thankfully, the star was fit enough to resume his duties as judge on the US version of The Voice on Monday.

Speaking on The Voice, he announced the reports of an injury were true and said he had cracked his rib.

He also revealed he had suffered a few other bumps and bruises.

He added: "I just wanted to go ahead and say that in case I'm not as physically enthusiastic as I usually am."

Nick went on to admit that the injury meant it currently hurts to laugh and asked fellow coach Blake Shelton to "not make me laugh too much".

Country music star Shelton joked the injury was simply an excuse to get sympathy on the show, to which Nick quipped it was a "big elaborate plan".

It's not been revealed what the project Nick is working on is, but TMZ reports he and his famous brothers could be shooting a competition show for NBC.

He is also set to take up hosting duties for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards which will air live on Sunday (May 23).

Last year, he and his band, the Jonas Brothers, received three Billboard Music Awards. They were awarded the gongs for top duo/group, top radio songs artist and top radio song for Sucker, their first No 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

They were also nominated for top artist.

And now he admits he is set to win another award - albeit a fake one.

Nick took to Instagram to predict he will be celebrating winning the fake award for Best Host.

His funny video of him finding out the "good news" was well received by his 30.4 million followers.

It is the first time he will host an awards ceremony by himself. He has previously worked alongside his wife, Priyanka Chopra, to announce the nominations for the Academy Awards.
