Nick Grimshaw has shared a selfie of himself with his rarely-seen niece, Liv – who he says he has not seen for almost a year.
The 36-year-old radio host says he cannot wait to be reunited with his younger family member to film the new series of celebrity Gogglebox for Channel 4.
Nick explained that he had not seen his niece since July last year – with the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and travel restrictions meaning he had not seen Liv in that time.
The pair will be teaming up to review television over an eight week period – giving the uncle and niece plenty of time to catch up, and also hug for the first time in months.
Announcing their return to Gogglebox, Nick – who featured on the show with Liv last year – shared a string of snaps on Instagram.
He wrote: “SO excited to say that me and @livjgrimshaw are back for another series of Gogglebox!
“Having not seen or hugged Liv since last JULY I cannot wait to spend the next 8 weeks together chatting absolute s**t about the telly.”
Liv was equally excited about the news, sharing similar photos of herself with Nick on her own Instagram feed.
She wrote: “SO excited that we are back for more @c4gogglebox.
“I can’t wait to watch telly, have snacks, laugh scream and cry (and see you @nicholasgrimshaw) for the next 8 weeks.”
While she is beginning to make herself known as a TV star, Liv doesn’t traditionally work in the showbiz and celebrity worlds.
According to reports, and LinkedIn, Liv is an assistant in merchandise for the online fashion brand PrettyLittleThing.
But the two have become firm favourites with celebrity Gogglebox fans for their relaxed friendship and witty comments about TV shows and movies.
Nick has previously gushed about his relationship with his niece – saying she is more a sibling to him than the offspring of his own sibling.
He said last year: "Our relationship is definitely more like siblings than uncle and niece.
"In some ways, I look up to her, even though she's so small — I actually call her Trollie. She's got this inner cool.
"She's not a people pleaser like I am. Liv's OK with being herself, and that's something we should all try to be."
Celebrity Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 on Friday 4 June, 2021, at 9pm.
