Nick Foles is ready to move on to bigger and better things, and on Thursday, the former Eagles quarterback took his first steps towards becoming the king of Jacksonville. After saying goodbye to Eagles fans in The Players Tribune, Foles was introduced to the Jacksonville media and fans, as the starting quarterback for the Jaguars. During his introductory press conference on Thursday Foles touched on a number of topics, none more exciting, then the chance to be himself and a franchise signal-caller.

Foles called it a special moment in his career to be a franchise quarterback and expressed his gratitude for the Jaguars putting that kind of faith in him and his potential. When asked by reporters about what leadership role he’ll have with the Jaguars, Foles pointed to the locker room and maintaining positive continuity.

“The most important part is the locker room,” Foles told reporters at a press conference on Thursday. “It’s about team, it’s about the locker room, it’s about playing with one another.”

When asked further clarify, Foles used himself as an example, indicating that he’ll take the approach of being himself why ingratiating himself to his new teammates.

On the heartfelt letter that he penned in the Players Tribune to Eagles fans, Foles had this to say.

“My wife and I love Philadelphia, that’s why we sent our thank you letters. And they know that.”

Foles reiterated his love for Philadelphia and the Eagles but admitted that he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a franchise quarterback, which explains his reasoning for paying the $2 million to become a free agent.

On Wednesday, the Jags officially released quarterback Blake Bortles, who was their first-round draft pick in 2014.
