Nick Foles, Leonard Fournette come in with 200/1 MVP odds

As talented as the Jacksonville Jaguars are, most people outside of their fanbase aren’t expecting anyone on the team to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award. That’s especially the case for the oddsmakers over in Vegas as quarterback Nick Foles and running back Leonard Fournette came in as the team’s only two players with decent odds for the title. Per SuperBook of Westgate, both currently have 200/1 odds, which is what they opened the year with.

One could certainly see why Foles could be under consideration for a league MVP as he now has his own team to lead after winning a Super Bowl MVP award two seasons ago. He also had a run in the playoffs last season, which put him in the spotlight for Vegas to consider this year. Ultimately, Foles finished 2018 completing 72.3 percent of his passes for 1,413 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions over the course of starting in five games.

Foles battle to become league MVP won’t be an easy one being that his supporting cast isn’t as strong as it was in Philly. That’s not to say the Jags don’t have the personnel to make it happen though, as they have some underrated young receivers in guys like Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole. They also have a top-10 running back in Leonard Fournette when he’s healthy.

Speaking of Fournette, offensive coordinator John DeFilippo told the media that he’ll basically be the focal point of the Jags’ offense, so Vegas is right to be moderately high on him. As we mentioned earlier, he’ll need to stay healthy and avoid suspension to reach his potential, but the motivation should definitely be there after last season’s disappointing run where he missed eight games.
