Nick Cordero’s widow Amanda Kloots believes he could have experienced a different outcome if America had been better prepared for the coronavirus pandemic.

Kloots was asked whether she thinks Cordero’s situation “would have turned out differently” with a different Covid-19 response in a recent interview with The New York Times.

“Yeah, sure. I mean, we weren’t prepared. I think anyone working in the hospital would say that, and I’m not even trying to get political,” she said.

"I’m just saying, were we prepared for the pandemic? No. Did we have the information to be prepared? I don’t know, and I’m not even going to go there.

"But we should have been prepared better, and I do think that if we were, it could have made a difference in a lot of people’s lives, not just Nick."

Cordero, a Tony-nominated Broadway actor, died in July of complications from the coronavirus at the age of 41.

Kloots, with whom he has a one-year-old son, shared regular updates about his health on social media throughout his treatment, receiving many messages of support in the process.

She told The New York Times she is now working on a memoir about this time in her family’s life, in collaboration with her sister Anna Kloots.
