Nick Chubb on pace to shatter the 1,000-yard rushing barrier after coming so close as a rookie

Nick Chubb hit 1,000 rushing yards as a rookie in 2018. The Browns RB passed the milestone with a 4-yard run in the third quarter of the Week 17 contest against the Baltimore Ravens.

However, Chubb’s one remaining carry in the game lost five yards. As a result, the second-round pick from Georgia finished with just 996.

He won’t have to worry about a negative carry or two wiping out his milestone accomplishment in 2019.

Chubb has 607 rushing yards through the first six games. At 5.3 yards per carry and 101 yards per game on average, he will shatter the 1,000-yard barrier before Thanksgiving. He will be the first Browns running back to top the century mark since Peyton Hillis in 2010 and just the fourth since 1986 to hit it, joining Hillis, Jamal Lewis (2007-2008) and Reuben Droughns (2005).

The bigger question isn’t whether Chubb will hit the mark, but if he’ll win the first rushing title by a Browns running back since Leroy Kelly in 1968. Chubb currently trails Christian McCaffrey of the Panthers by 11 yards.
