Nick Cave has revealed that a new Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album, titled Ghosteen, will be released in the week beginning 30 September.

The artist shared the news via a response to a fan on his Red Hand Files website

"Dear Joe," he wrote. "You can expect a new album next week. It is called Ghosteen. It is a double album. Part 1 comprises of eight songs."

Tracks on the first album are:

1) "The Spinning Song"
2) "Bright Horses"
3) "Waiting for You"
4) "Night Raid"
5) "Sun Forest"
6) "Galleon Ship"
7) "Ghosteen Speaks"
8) "Leviathan"

The Bad Seeds frontman then revealed that the second part consists of "two long songs, linked by a spoken word piece":

1) "Ghosteen"
2) "Fireflies"
3) "Hollywood"

He concluded the announcement with: "The songs on the first album are the children. The songs on the second album are their parents. Ghosteen is a migrating spirit. Love, Nick."

The Bad Seeds released their critically praised album Skeleton Tree in 2016 and have since been working on the follow-up.

Cave has been using the Red Hand Files website has a means of communicating directly with his fans for some time, offering his views on music, grief, loss, inspiration, and his stance on the Israel boycott.
