Nick Castellanos hit another home run that interrupted a somber on-air moment

It was nearly a year ago that longtime Cincinnati Reds announcer Thom Brennaman was caught using a homophobic slur on a hot mic before a game, and when he ended up on the air calling the contest, he actually had to announce a Nick Castellanos home run in the middle of his apology.

Fast-forward to Sunday. During a Kansas City game against the Reds, the Royals broadcast was delivering a eulogy for the late father of the team’s longtime equipment manager.

It was in the middle of that eulogy that Castellanos hit another home run, forcing announcer Ryan Lefebvre to interrupt and call the dinger. He handled it really, really well, keeping somber and even apologizing for the coincidental timing before continuing the eulogy and condolences.
